Congratulations to this week’s outstanding student, Kamiyah Jackson-Thompson, for her work ethic and positive attitude in class each day! Kamiyah was nominated by Mrs. Hannah Ridgeway who shared:
"Kamiyah always has a smile on her face and a kind word for her classmates. She completes her assignments quickly and efficiently. Any time that she completes her work before the class is done, she will ask if she can assist in any way. In FCCLA she has really stepped up to serve as a leader by signing up for all of the community service opportunities and attending all leadership trainings that are offered." Fantastic work, Kamiyah! 👏💙
A special thank you to Sumner Beaumont York & Kincaid Insurance Group for sponsoring our Student of the Week recognition!

Students had the opportunity to meet representatives from colleges, job training programs, community agencies, financial institutions, support services, and local businesses in our area. They connected with organizations including Albany Tech, Easter Seals, Goodwill, GVRA, South Georgia Banking Company, and Southern Regional Technical College. 🎓
Many students received valuable resources for life after graduation, along with guidance on filling out resumes and completing FAFSA. ✍️
A huge thank you to Ms. Jakin Tillery for hosting this event and inviting us to join. 💙
Whether our students are exploring work/employment, higher education, or independent living skills, this fair provided the tools and connections needed to plan for a bright future. 🚀 #RaiseTheBar #CTAEDelivers #4theT #ChallengingTheImpossible

Our students have been BUSY these past few weeks, and we’re excited to share what they’ve been growing, studying, and discovering!
🪲 Integrated Pest Management
Students learned how real growers protect their crops by practicing pest scouting, insect identification, and pinning. They also studied the differences between beneficial insects and pest insects—and how both play an important role in a healthy greenhouse ecosystem.
💧 Alternative Growing Methods
From hydroponics to aquaponics, students explored how plants can thrive without traditional soil. They’ve been comparing systems, testing setups, and digging into what makes each method unique.
🚀 NASA Research Trial Begins!
We’ve officially launched our hydroponic beet-growing experiment in partnership with NASA! Students are cultivating beets under simulated drought conditions using a Veggie growth chamber model—just like the systems used on the International Space Station. 🌌 They’re collecting data, adjusting variables, and contributing to research connected to space agriculture. How cool is that?!
We’re proud of the curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving these students bring to the greenhouse every day. Stay tuned for more updates as their projects continue to grow! 🌿✨

We are incredibly proud of the generosity and teamwork shown by our members. Service, leadership, and community impact are at the heart of FBLA—and through this project our students truly demonstrated those values in action. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who donated items and helped pack boxes. Your kindness will make Christmas brighter for children in need!

They heard from professionals in several high-demand healthcare careers in our region, including:
Radiology
Medical Laboratory
Pharmacy
Clinical Informatics
A huge thank-you to Southwell for investing in our students and supporting our future healthcare heroes! 💙🩺

Sunbelt is a commercial facility that sits on more than 25 acres and operates 10 greenhouses that grow annuals, perennials, mums, poinsettias, and other plants for Pike Nursery, Costco, and independent retailers 🌿. Students also learned how each plant needs the right soil, nutrients, and careful tracking in order to grow successfully.
They explored a wide range of jobs that keep Sunbelt running, including growers, waterers, horticulture interns, chemists, maintenance, marketing and sales, welding, and shipping and receiving. Pre-ETS skills like teamwork, communication, and responsibility are essential. Sunbelt has about 75 full-time employees, many with over 15 years of experience. Many workers started right out of high school and advanced through hard work and on-the-job training, proving that a degree is not always required to succeed 💼
Thank you to High School High Tech and Ms. Angela Manders for setting up this valuable learning experience for our students 🙌🎉. #RaiseTheBar #CTAEDelivers #ChallengeTheImpossible #4theT #georgiacti

What Are High School Pathways?
High school pathways are structured programs of study that help students explore their interests and prepare for future careers or college opportunities. Each pathway connects classroom learning with real-world skills, giving students a chance to focus on specific areas-such as health sciences, engineering, business, arts, or technology-while still completing their core academic requirements.
By choosing a pathway, students can:
Explore potential careers and discover what they're passionate about.
Gain hands-on experience through projects, internships, or specialized courses.
Earn valuable credentials or college credits before graduation.
Build a strong foundation for success after high school, whether in college, technical training, or the workforce.
Pathways don't "lock" students into one career-they're designed to help students learn, explore, and make informed choices about their futures.
