🎁 Operation Christmas Child Service Project ✨
Our TCHS FBLA chapter has been busy spreading holiday cheer! 💙💛
Recently members worked together to collect toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other small gifts to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes will be delivered to children around the world to bring hope, joy, and encouragement during the holiday season. 🎄🌍
We are incredibly proud of the generosity and teamwork shown by our members. Service, leadership, and community impact are at the heart of FBLA—and through this project our students truly demonstrated those values in action. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who donated items and helped pack boxes. Your kindness will make Christmas brighter for children in need!

Our JROTC classes visited Tift-Myers Airport in Tifton, where they learned the history behind its name—Colonel Henry Tift Myers, the first presidential pilot who flew Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman.

Students also gained valuable insights into airport operations and the important preparations pilots complete before every flight. ✈️

A great day of hands-on learning!

Physics students are back at it again! Mrs. Hathaway’s class explored static electricity by investigating how electrons transfer from different materials to a balloon. Students then tested how far away the static charge could move small pieces of paper.

Tift County High CTI students had a great day touring Sunbelt Greenhouses in Douglas 🌱🌼. Students learned how much power, labor, and skill go into running this large operation and discovered many exciting career opportunities in the greenhouse industry.
Sunbelt is a commercial facility that sits on more than 25 acres and operates 10 greenhouses that grow annuals, perennials, mums, poinsettias, and other plants for Pike Nursery, Costco, and independent retailers 🌿. Students also learned how each plant needs the right soil, nutrients, and careful tracking in order to grow successfully.
They explored a wide range of jobs that keep Sunbelt running, including growers, waterers, horticulture interns, chemists, maintenance, marketing and sales, welding, and shipping and receiving. Pre-ETS skills like teamwork, communication, and responsibility are essential. Sunbelt has about 75 full-time employees, many with over 15 years of experience. Many workers started right out of high school and advanced through hard work and on-the-job training, proving that a degree is not always required to succeed 💼
Thank you to High School High Tech and Ms. Angela Manders for setting up this valuable learning experience for our students 🙌🎉. #RaiseTheBar #CTAEDelivers #ChallengeTheImpossible #4theT #georgiacti

What Are High School Pathways?

High school pathways are structured programs of study that help students explore their interests and prepare for future careers or college opportunities. Each pathway connects classroom learning with real-world skills, giving students a chance to focus on specific areas-such as health sciences, engineering, business, arts, or technology-while still completing their core academic requirements.

By choosing a pathway, students can:

Explore potential careers and discover what they're passionate about.

Gain hands-on experience through projects, internships, or specialized courses.

Earn valuable credentials or college credits before graduation.

Build a strong foundation for success after high school, whether in college, technical training, or the workforce.

Pathways don't "lock" students into one career-they're designed to help students learn, explore, and make informed choices about their futures.

Tift County High School Criminal Justice students had an exciting opportunity as Captain Ellington, SFC Kelley, and Officer Harrison visited to share their expertise in public safety and highway law enforcement.

Students participated in an informative presentation on the recruitment process and the responsibilities of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) officers. They explored topics such as commercial motor vehicle safety compliance, driver and hazardous materials regulations, the use of scales to check for size and weight violations, and investigative procedures for traffic crashes involving commercial vehicles.

The officers also discussed the Physical Fitness Assessment, employment qualifications, career paths, specialty units, and job benefits within CVE.

As a special recognition for their participation, Leah McMurphy was presented with the Georgia Commercial Vehicle Enforcement patch, while Matthew Fincher, Pal Patel, and Bryseyda Gutierrez received customized Law Enforcement Challenge Coins.

Our students learned a tremendous amount from this visit—thank you to our guests for investing in their education!

🌟 Tift County CTI Shines at the Georgia CTI State Leadership Conference! 🌟

Tift County CTI students had a wonderful time at the Georgia CTI Fall Leadership Conference in Columbus. They attended a College and Transition Fair and took part in leadership sessions on Courage, Communication, and Challenging the Impossible. Students won gift cards and competed in Academic Quiz Bowls.

We enjoyed a nice dinner and dance where we met new friends from high schools across the state and made great memories together as a chapter. The food was awesome and we heard from some talented young entertainers.🤩

Students also had a blast at the Coca-Cola Space Center enjoying a planetarium show, space simulator, and rocket construction. It was the best yet and we are excited for what comes next. 🚀

A special thank you to Mrs. Sexton, Ms. Walker, and Mr. Acree for all your help in making this possible. You all are the best! 😊 #raisingthebar #ChallengeTheImpossible #CTAEdelivers #4theT
