Mrs. Story’s Essentials of Healthcare students had an amazing Lunch and Learn experience hosted by Southwell!
Students got to hear from healthcare professionals—Jodi Davis (Oncology RN), Jasmine Smith (Respiratory Therapist), and Michael Shaw (Cardiac Cath Lab RN & Wound/PICC RN)—who shared what it’s really like to work in their fields and the many opportunities available in healthcare.
A big thank-you to Randi Gibbs, Student Shadowing Coordinator, for organizing such a great event, and to Southwell for inspiring the next generation of healthcare heroes! 💙

After studying Newton’s Laws, Momentum, Impulse, and Forces, Mrs. Hathaway’s Physics class put their knowledge to the test with the iconic Egg Drop Lab! 🥚🪂⚙️
Students designed and built devices to protect their eggs as they dropped from the top of the soccer stands — straight onto the concrete! The challenge? No parachutes allowed! Each design had to reduce Impulse (Force × Time) to safely slow the egg’s momentum and prevent it from cracking.
Several students succeeded in dropping their device multiple times before their egg finally broke — a true testament to physics in action and creative problem-solving! 💡👏

🌟 Positive Behavior Impact Student of the Month 🌟
Please join us in celebrating Jykerriah Deshazer, our Tift County High School Positive Behavior Impact Student of the Month! 🎉
Last week, while working at Sonny’s BBQ, she demonstrated outstanding character, leadership, and customer service. A parent who called the restaurant shared a remarkable story:
When the call was accidentally disconnected, she immediately called back to apologize. She then went above and beyond — contacting her manager for more information, walking the caller through the sponsorship process step-by-step, and even offering additional business leads and job resources for a TCHS student-athlete.
Her patience, professionalism, empathy, and willingness to help — even outside her normal duties — exemplify what it means to Raise the Bar at Tift County High School. 💙
Jykerriah is not only a hardworking student and athlete, but also a role model who treats others with kindness and respect — both on campus and in our community. We are incredibly proud of her commitment to excellence and service! 🙌
To recognize her impact, Jykerriah received special spirit items sponsored by Sumner, Beaumont, York, Kincaid Insurance Group — thank you for supporting our students! 💙
Thank you for shining bright and representing what it truly means to be a Blue Devil!

Mrs. Hathaway's Chemistry classes are combining art and science — the best of both worlds! 🎨🧪
Students have been studying chemical formulas and mole conversions, and to put their knowledge into action, each pair created a sidewalk chalk art piece using Calcium Carbonate while enjoying the beautiful weather.
After completing their artwork, they calculated the number of moles and molecules of chalk used in their creations. Learning, creativity, and fun all in one lesson! 🌞👩🔬👨🔬

🎉 PBIS Student of the Week: 🎉
Congratulations to this week’s outstanding student, Ari Torres, for her willingness to help others and her strong character! Ari was nominated by Mrs. Hope Vance, who shared:
"It’s been incredible to watch her confidence and personality continue to shine. Ari may not be the loudest voice in the classroom, but her presence speaks volumes through her kindness, reliability, and willingness to help others. She consistently shows up—not only academically, but in ways that reveal her strong character. Ari is always ready to lend a hand, whether it’s assisting teachers with extra tasks or helping classmates when they need support. Recently, when I asked if she could help during a meeting for Migrant Parents after school hours, she didn’t hesitate. She volunteered her free time, and using her fluency in both English and Spanish, she translated and made the children feel comfortable and included. Whatever career path she chooses, I have no doubt she will excel. Tift County High School is truly lucky to have her as a student and role model." Well done, Ari! 👏💙
A special thank you to Sumner Beaumont York & Kincaid Insurance Group for sponsoring our Student of the Week recognition!

Exciting things continue to happen at The Palace! After receiving new goals last week, installation is now underway on a new digital scoreboard. The previous scoreboard, original to the construction of the building, served us well through many great moments, but it was time for an update. Thank you to our Board of Education for investing in the future of Blue Devil athletics. We are ready for basketball season! #4theT
