Eighth Street Middle School

ESMS FFA members and agriculture students recently participated in a Day of Service by volunteering at the Tift County Animal Shelter. Throughout April and May, students collected items to donate to the shelter. On the day of their visit to take the donated items, they assisted with various tasks, including working on the outdoor run, preparing treats, assembling foster bags, cleaning cages, and organizing supplies.

🧬🔎 Our 7th grade Healthcare Science students had an exciting visit from Chief Investigator Melissa Luke with the Tifton District Attorney’s Office! She shared how crime scene investigation connects with healthcare and gave students a real-world look at how science, observation, and public service work together. Thank you, Investigator Luke, for inspiring our future healthcare and criminal justice professionals! 💙👩‍⚕️👮‍♀️

🚁 Big thanks to Georgia Power Drone Pilot Wesley Williford for stopping by Mr. Tapscott's technology class at Eighth Street Middle School! Our students loved learning about Mr. Williford's cool job and how he uses drones and technology to help people. It was so fun to see the drone in action and hear about how technology can lead to awesome careers! Thanks for sharing your time and your drone skills with us, Mr. Wesley Williford! 🙌📷

ESMS Ag classes showed their appreciation for their teachers by making floral pens and thank you cards for them during Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate how much our ESMS teachers always support our Ag students, FFA members and Agriculture Education program!

Lastly, our awesome ESMS 8th graders had the best time at Friday’s PBIS Celebration! 🎉 Huge thanks to KONA Ice for staying all day and helping make the day extra sweet. Congratulations to Mr. Jacob Tatum, the 2024–2025 Eighth Street Middle School Teacher of the Year! 💙🏆 The Teacher of the Year Award is selected by a vote of the faculty and staff, and this year, Mr. Tatum was the clear choice! He is known for the meaningful relationships he builds with his students, the respect he earns from his colleagues, and the leadership he brings to our school each day. Mr. Tatum consistently goes above and beyond to make a difference, and we’re proud to celebrate all that he does for ESMS! 👏

Free Summer Reading Programs with Rewards!

After long days of testing, ESMS Ag students were able to get outside and get their hands dirty in the garden. Students applied Black Gold compost to all of the raised beds and watered and weeded the garden in the afternoon after testing.
