G.O Bailey First Graders recently had a visit from Mrs. Judy Alexander from the High Touch, High Tech Hands-on Science Program. The day’s lesson was all about sounds and vibrations. Each classroom got to spend an hour with Mrs. Alexander participating in hands-on activities. Students built their very own model ear drum where they made salt dance using their voice as well as a tuning fork. And, who knew that kazoos were so much fun?! Once they figured out how to play them the students performed Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. The students also learned that sound travels through things. They were very surprised at what happens when sound travels through water. To end the day the students enjoyed a great tornado tube race. This fun day was possible through a grant that was awarded to Mrs. Sara Askew by the Tift County Foundation for Educational Excellence.
